How digital RPD framework design works

Digital removable partial denture design replaces manual surveying with measured geometry. The arch is surveyed in software, undercuts are quantified in millimetres rather than judged by eye, and the path of insertion is fixed before a single component is drawn. That single decision drives clasp placement, guide planes and the amount of blockout the case needs.

From there the framework is built component by component: major connector, minor connectors, rests, retentive and reciprocal clasp arms, and mesh or lattice retention for the acrylic saddles. Relief is applied under the connector where the mucosa needs it, and connector cross-sections are sized for rigidity without adding bulk that the patient will feel.

The finished framework can be exported for casting from a printed pattern or for direct metal laser sintering. Because the geometry is parametric, a change in one clasp does not force a redesign of the whole framework.
